Horse and Pony Boarding

June has worked at or managed boarding and riding stables since 1980. She has gleaned knowledge in care from many sources and people as well as hands-on experience. Her care mantra is to "care for the boarder's horses better than my own." One look at her horses will tell you how well your horse will be cared for. She works hard to keep your pony or horse at a safe and healthy weight. Older horses are provided with special care to keep them at the proper weight and activity for maximum health.

We have a spacious new barn with five stalls, one 12x12, four 10x12. They have rubber mats and sawdust shaving bedding. A large tackroom (for all your "stuff") with an incinerating toilet and heater for winter. A wide aisle with rubber mats and nine foot ceilings lets your horse feel comfortable not claustrophobic. More space is available in the hay loft. The small riding ring next to the barn is good for slow riding and beginners and has a sand base. The larger ring has a sand track and grass "infield". There are lots of obstacles for use in training and practice. There are dirt paddocks where horses can be paired up or turned out alone. Grass pastures are divided up for rotational grazing and horses are out for 2-6 hours according to need. We are situated on a hill and the paddocks rarely get icy or very muddy.

Paddocks are cleaned out weekly.

Regular board includes custom grain and hay fed 3 to times a day; heated water buckets, water tubs and tack room; buckets and stalls cleaned daily - paddocks cleaned weekly (spring, summer, fall); a light brushing each morning; toilet; tackroom space; first aid kits for horse and human; flyspray; stall; turnout; 2 riding rings. I am also available to meet with vet and farrier by prior arrangement.

Retired horse board includes above with more brushing and 6 dewormings a year. Owner needs to supply - halter with throat clip and lead, light weatherproof blanket and brush kit. Visit your horse as much or as little as you want, knowing he/she will be cared for as one of my own.

Each horse has their own hay pile and are divided up for proper feeding.

Other accommodations can be made for temporary board - be it one day or one 1/2 months. We have a two stall shed with a 12x12 open run-in and a 12x12 stall with a sliding door, and a private paddock. There is also a 12x12 shed with a private paddock that would be perfect for two miniature horses.

Silver Snaffle Stables is a great place if you are not riding much due to multiple jobs or a new child. If you are going off to college or moving to a new city and don't know where your horse will fit in yet, he could stay here. Do you have an older equine that needs more personal care than she's getting now? If yoo have a new horse and would like a quiet place to get to know him or if your horse just doesn't do well with too much activity, this is a great place.
